SHEDDING

English: Onion

Onion (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

When you shed layers of conceit
It’s like peeling an onion
Over a lifetime.
You come to the core
But there’s not much there
It’s as if you need the layers
Along the way
To plump your bulb.
Perhaps once you cut into the heart
The Ego dies
It is the end.
