They come, bringing

bicycle parts wallets duvet covers sunglasses picture frames fiction books non-fiction books DVDs toys jars TMLewin shirt Versace raincoat faux pearls salad spoons polyester gloves leather belts water goblets floral mugs Whittard teapot Waterford crystal brooches coasters jackets toasters scarves pitchers handbags vases woollies wine glasses whatchamacallits

in hefty bin-bags rich deposits
of used wares, pre-loved junk
retired bric-a-brac, stuff
some chipped or scabbed, some new
collections, contributions
from spring-cleaning, sorting, moving;
them asking when they bought it what on earth were they thinking

They come, buying

earrings greetings crystal china boots books poetry pottery jeans jewellery cannisters cutlery

curious walk-ins seeking refuge from rain
weekend shoppers idly looking for a bargain

posh or poor – it don’t matter
everyone game for a banter and a barter

stocks replenishing recycling till ringing magic dust overflowing gift-aid income growing cancer research expanding
